For Monday, please complete the following assignment:
- Familiarize yourself with the overview of India presented on the CIA World Factbook
- Read this article by Indian writer Arundhati Roy entitled “Capitalism: A Ghost Story”
- As you read, make note of your questions and what you might like to investigate further.
- Chose one question or interest and write a blog post attempting to answer it. Do some brief research (Google and Wikipedia are fine) and write up a short report. Make sure you label your question and your research report in your blog post.
- For example, Roy mentions that “2,50,000 debt-ridden farmers have killed themselves.” One question might be: “what lead 2,500,000 debt-ridden farmers to commit suicide and how is this crisis being handled?” After some online research on this topic, write a research report in a paragraph or two and post it to your blog.
We will discuss your research report blog posts in class.
