We’re beginning our literary studies! We will be discussion Ireland’s travel literature, focusing on J.M. Synge’s The Aran Islands. Please do the following:
- Email me your website (domain name/link)
- Read Bedford Book of Genres “Narrative Genres” pg. 39-47
- Read this very short article about contemporary influence of Synge’s work
- Read the Introduction and Part I from J.M. Synge’s The Aran Islands
- Write a blog post about how Synge represents Ireland. If you are not able to post to your website, email me your blog post and you will receive full credit. As it says on our syllabus, blog posts should be at least 100 words and collectively count for 10% of your final course grade.
